Alma Alfred

Alma Alfred retired from United Space Alliance (USA) after 24 years of service. She worked in Mission Integration and Configuration Management supporting the Space Shuttle Program of NASA.

Ms. Alfred was awarded several awards from United Space Alliance including Performance Awards and NASA Awards from Launch Package Managers.  Ms.. Alfred received the USA Employee of the Month Community Service Award in 2003. She also received the NASA Group Achievement Award presented to the Space Shuttle Program (SSP) Return-to-Fight Configuration Management Team for her dedicated support of meetings and accurate capture of minutes, documentation and implementation of the SSP decisions in April 2006.

Ms. Alfred co-chaired the USA UNCF Committee for five years. She started the first beat-the- boss challenge of the CEOs and VPs of different corporations 5K run, which was very successful, for the UNCF Awards Scholarships to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Ms. Alfred, Ms. Birdow and Ms. Cauthen chaired the USA committee for the Baytown Relay for Life for several years, raising money for Cancer research and patients.

Ms. Alfred attended several luncheons at the Baytown San Jacinto Cancer Center where the “Pink Firetruck” visited to celebrate the Survivorship of Cancer Patients and to remember the people who lost the battle. Survivors and family members are able to write their name on the truck and take pictures with the firemen in their pink gear. The firemen also escorted Survivors in a fashion show at the event. The trucks travel from state to state. Their slogan is Pink Heals and the logo is a pink high heel shoe. A great event!!

Ms. Alfred is a Blessed Cancer Survivor, always happy to share my experience with others going through the journey. I was diagnosed with Cancer in 2006.  She received chemotherapy and radiation and was blessed to be cared for by amazing staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Ms. Alfred is blessed with loving and supportive friends and family and is an active member of her church and taught religious education for several years.  She earned an Associate of Applied Science and Professional Administrative Specialist Technology from Lee College and also received the USA Leadership Institute Series Certification.
